Spring Awakening Manila!

Thank you Atlantis for staging this. I’ve been watching off-broadway and broadway bootlegs of the show since forever. I loved it. So much. If tickets were cheaper, we would’ve watched it again. Stage seating naman. But that never happened because tickets were expensive. And I suck at lottery tickets so I didn’t even bother joining the lottery. Actually, I’m not even sure if there was a lottery for the stage seats. Anyhoo.
Joaquin Valdes has an amazing voice. Pitch perfect. And he sounds remarkably like Jonathan Groff omg. I expected Wendla to be amazing, having seen her performance as Sally in UA&P’s You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown. She was ok, but compared to Valdes’ vocals, her voice came off weak
And Nicco Manalo, as my favorite character from the musical, Moritz, was brilliant. The Bitch of Living is one of my favorite songs from the musical and he really brought Moritz to life. He’s almost as good as John Gallagher Jr.!!! When the cast was released for Spring Awakening, I prayed that someone really fantastic would be cast as Moritz because Moritz (imo) is the heart and soul of Spring Awakening. Loved it. I really wish we watched it again ugh.
Too many amazing parts in the musical. I’m incoherent right now. Ernst and Hanschen.
All in all, I loved it. WHY WOULDN’T I?!? Spring Awakening is a really good musical. The storyline is a bit eh for me since it’s too angsty/emo for me. But the music is good. Thank you, Duncan Sheik!
