I’ve been watching movies on video lately. So here it goes…

We're not gonna pay RENT!
REEEEEENNNNTTTTT!

RENT My sister and I really really wanted to watch the movie since forever and we didn’t want to wait for March 16 (I think) so we asked our relatives in the US to buy the dvd for us :)

Anyway, I think the movie, RENT, is better heard than seen. I didn’t like how the scenes were a bit choppy and some of the musical numbers in the movie had a weird “music video” feel (and not in a good way, unlike Chicago) like in “What You Own”. The movie, I think, is basically a copy-paste of the stage production. I am only basing this from the original broadway cast recording, since I’ve never seen the actual theatre production of it.It became somewhat comical because most of the lines in the movie were originally sung in the obc recording. So I kind of guessed what they were going to say next.

I think it’s the fault of Chris Columbus. He ruined Harry Potter by staying faithful to the book. He also ruined RENT for also staying too faithful to the musical. I love that he didn’t cut a lot of songs from the actual musical, but overall RENT (the movie) is a slight mess. Baz Luhrmann or Rob Marshall could’ve done a better job than this guy. Chris Columbus doesn’t have the artist in him to make a good film.

But hey, I enjoyed it because I *finally* saw the movie! And it was fun seeing the original actors perform as if I was watching them on stage. In other news, join the fanlisting for Angel and Collin’s song, I’ll Cover You! :D

Other:
Brokeback Mountain (♥ ♥)
Just Like Heaven (GOOD)
Must Love Dogs (AVOID)
The Graduate (NOT YET FINISHED WATCHING)

I’ll fix that up later. Anyhoo. That’s all.
